Embodied Code-Switching® therapy uses a practice and skill set created by Marcia Bonato Warren, MA MA LPC (formerly Marcia Warren Edelman) that takes code-switching from a reactive, unconscious behavior to a proactive, embodied skill that enables multicultural individuals to choose how, when, and to what degree, they respond and adapt to different cultures.
Embodied Code-Switching® therapy integrates somatic awareness and cultural embodiment practices into the present research on code-switching, providing new ways to identify and express multiple identities in various cultural environments. For many, this practice can provide the means to empower themselves to move from a dysregulated state of having to “manage” competing identities towards expressing multiple identities in a conscious, congruent, and fluid way.
